Premier Sarawak Unveils Final Livery Design For Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) Vehicles At Sarawak Day 2024 Celebration

BINTULU, 23 July 2024 — Premier Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, announced the final livery design for the ART (Autonomous Rapid Transit) vehicles during the Sarawak Day 2024 Celebration, heralding a new era in modern public transportation for Sarawak. 

The ART, powered by hydrogen, promises to revolutionize the public transport system starting with the Kuching Urban Transportation System Project.

In his announcement at the celebration, Premier Abang Johari expressed pride in unveiling the visual and final design of the ART vehicles. “On this significant day for all Sarawakians, I am immensely proud to share the final livery design of our ART vehicles. This design embodies the aspirations and strength of Sarawak,” he said.

Currently, Sarawak Metro is diligently working on preparing dedicated tracks, stations, and depots for the ART in both Kuching and Kota Samarahan. Several designs were proposed by the Ministry of Transport Sarawak and Sarawak Metro, but only one was chosen to best represent the spirit and ambition of Sarawak.

The ART vehicles are being manufactured in China, with the first units expected to arrive in Kuching by the end of this year, God willing. The introduction of these hydrogen-powered ART vehicles is a significant step towards a sustainable and efficient public transportation system in Sarawak.
